studio portrait of woman in white tank top against dark background

The Muse

Some sessions are about the shot. Some are about the subject. The best ones are about both.

This series was built around contrast — dark backgrounds and bright light, stillness and movement, softness and edge. Shot over an afternoon in studio and on location, it’s a study in how a subject can shift the mood of a frame just by where they look.

The corset series, the jacket, the hat — each change of wardrobe brought a different version of the same person. That’s the part of portrait work that doesn’t get talked about enough: you’re not photographing someone, you’re photographing a collaboration.
